🚀 Team Rocket Returns: Pokémon TCG’s Destined Rivals Set Revealed
🧨 Pokémon TCG: Destined Rivals – Team Rocket Strikes Back!
At Latin America’s gamescom, Pokémon surprised fans by revealing the first artwork for the upcoming Destined Rivals booster set—and yes, Team Rocket is officially making their grand return. Attendee badges featured the set’s Brazilian Portuguese logo, Rivais Predestinados, confirming that this expansion will be all about Rocket’s greatest hits.
💀 Who’s in the Pack?
The key art is stacked with Giovanni, Executive Ariana, Executive Petrel, and two classic Team Rocket Grunts, styled after their FireRed/LeafGreen and HeartGold/SoulSilver appearances.
The Pokémon teased so far include:
-
Rocket’s Mewtwo ex
-
Rocket’s Koffing
-
Rocket’s Arbok
-
Rocket’s Murkrow
-
Rocket’s Rattata
It’s a full Rocket reunion—and we’re here for it.
📦 Set Origins & Release Timeline
Destined Rivals will pull from two upcoming Japanese sets:
-
Heat Wave Arena (March 14, Japan)
-
The Glory of Team Rocket (April 18, Japan)
The second set hasn’t been officially revealed yet, keeping some mystery alive for what surprises may still be coming. It’s safe to expect more villainous themes and dark-style mechanics rooted in Rocket-style disruption.
🔮 What This Could Mean for the TCG
The return of Team Rocket is cool on its own—but there’s more going on behind the scenes.
This summer, the English-exclusive Black Bolt & White Flare set is arriving, and the pairing of those names with the classic Rocket aesthetic has sparked rumors about possible Black & White-era remakes.
Also worth watching: trademarks for Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia have surfaced, fueling speculation that Mega Evolutions could return alongside Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
The TCG has always hinted at game-era shifts before they drop. And this Team Rocket comeback? Feels like the start of something big.
💬 Final Thoughts
Team Rocket is back, and Destined Rivals is shaping up to be a must-watch set for 2025. With nostalgic characters, exclusive Rocket Pokémon, and some serious potential game tie-ins, this might be more than just a villain-themed drop—it could be a signal of what's next.
